Background Information;
USAID Ubora Mashinani Program is United States Agency for International Development (USAID)- funded program that seeks to strengthen community-based organizations, Civil society organizations and private sector coordination and collaboration in county – level development through a co-created umbrella organization named Local Development Organization(LDO). The five- year program is implemented by the Kenya Community Development Foundation .
Workshop participation
The workshop brought together the LDO secretariats team , comprising of program coordinators and data officers from the 11 counties where Ubora Mashinani operates. USAID technical sectors included Democracy, Governance, peace and security (DGPS) , Health, population , and Nutrition (HPN), and office of Economic Growth and Investments ( OEGI) .
Outcome of the Workshop
The program will work with LDOs and their members and stakeholder to influence policies , plans and Budgeting for devolved services(Health, Agriculture , water/WASH , and Environment. The technical offices of USAID- DGPS, HPN, OEGI, and WASH and Environment – have contributed standard indicators for joint tracking based on their activities in the target counties . The workshop allowed stakeholder collaboration to refine the indicators within local contexts , fostering a shared understanding of expected results and how results would be achieved and measured . The discussions focused on how the different partners can collaborate for efficiency in various MEL processes towards achieving the desired results . Drawing from the rich collective knowledge , experience, and expertise of the diverse stakeholders, the workshop concluded with precise definitions, measurement strategies , data sources , and disaggregation for the USAID Ubora Mashinani program standard indicators, agreed on custom indicators and prioritize five learning questions for finalization of the learning agenda.
