siolo Community Development Trust (ICDT) is a community-owned, community-led, and community-managed Trust in Isiolo County. The purpose of the Trust is to facilitate a unified voice and legitimacy of the citizens in Isiolo, right from the village to the county level in Isiolo County. ICDT was established by the people of Isiolo, through their civil society organisations, in collaboration with the County Government of Isiolo, in a process that was facilitated by AKF – YETU Initiative, with support of the USAID.
The purpose of the establishment of ICDT is to facilitate a unified voice and legitimacy of the citizens in Isiolo, right from the village to the county level in Isiolo County. ICDT represents local Civil Society and Private Sector Organizations. Conscious of the need to build on the tenets, values and principles articulated in the Constitution of Kenya (2010), the subscribers to the Trust affirm and commit to the principles and values of inclusivity, public participation, and gender equity, while embracing the youth, people living with disabilities and grassroots- based community organisations.
The establishment of the Trust is undertaken through a co-creation process that is led by the Interim Steering Committee (ISC) which was identified through an inclusive process. The ISC is in the process of establishing a Board of Trustee that will spearhead the establishment and operationalization of ICDT. Similarly, the ISC, in consultation with the YETU Initiative has come up with a plan and budget whose Key activities included development of an overarching strategy to operationalize the ICDT, membership mobilization, stakeholder engagement, establishment of an office and recruitment of core staff.
This operational narrative serves as description of the goals and objectives of the Trust, and how the ISC and the Board will go about developing ICDT strategy, mobilize membership, engage with stakeholders, establish office and recruit staff.
